  • CaraMunich Type III (Ger.)
    German grown two-row spring barley golden-brown, slightly aromatic kernels. Contributes amber to reddish-coppery colour to finished beer. Caramunich 3 is the darkest of the three.

  • Special X
    BEST Special X® is a dark caramel malt that has been roasted only for a short time resulting in a very intensive, exceptional flavor profile. Adding max. 20% to the grain bill leads to a luminous, chestnut red to chestnut brown color in a 12°P beer. Even when used in smaller amounts, the malt is ideally suited to supporting the overall body of dark beers.

  • Golden Naked Oats (Aus.)
    This huskless oat crystal malt is quite simply delicious. An exotic ingredient for the adventurous brewer, it brings a subtle nutty flavour. Its creaminess brings mouthfeel and balance to strong, hop forward beers.

  • Melanoidin (Ger.)
    Much like Munich malt, but with more aroma. Melanoidin Malt lends mouthfeel and great aromatics to the beer. Has a nice almost biscuit flavor. Use to help replicate the maltiness and mouthfeel found in decoction mashes.

  • CaraPils (Ger.)

    Unmalted rye that has been de-husked, steamed, and then rolled between heated rollers to form flakes. Flaked Rye gives a dry, crisp, strong rye flavor to most ales.

  • Torrified Wheat (UK)
    Torrified Wheat has been heat treated to break the cellular structure, allowing more rapid hydration and malt enzymes to more completely attack the starches and protein. It is used in place of raw wheat when making Belgian-style White and Wit beers.

  • Rolled or Flaked Wheat
    Unmalted wheat is a common ingredient in wheat beers, including: American Wheat, Bavarian Weisse, and is essential to Belgian Lambic and Wit. It adds starch haze and high levels of protein. Flaked or Rolled wheat adds more wheat flavor "sharpness" than malted wheat.
